Research has shown that supported housing is effective for people with mental illness (National Mental Health Association, 2006). Successful supported housing programs include case management, outreach and engagement and other services to help people reintegrate into their communities.

Work

The Cathedral Center provides a safe environment for women and families who are facing a housing crisis or experiencing homelessness so that they can focus on gaining employment and removing barriers to their independence.

Spirit

There are certain people whose character and spirit are simply remarkable. In the face of adversity, they shine. This is the story of one of our most memorable past clients. She bravely achieved her goals and ultimately gained her independence thanks in part to The Cathedral Center.

Transformation

This is from a client who successfully completed our WIP Program (Women’s Independence Program). The WIP Program is designed to help homeless single women in removing barriers to independence. The goal of the WIP Program is to provide financial assistance to women participating in case management and/or shelter programs as a means to remove barriers that will result in returning to independence faster.
